About This Clip
Hamlet the Killer
Hamlet the Killer is a new adaptation written by Yeganeh Mohammadi and Masoud Tayebi and based on Hamlet by William Shakespeare. This production was performed at the ‘Mise.en.scene’ Theatre Arts Hall in September and October 2024 and tells a story of Hamlet holding ceremonies for his parents for 30 days after killing them.
Length of play: 40 minutes
Some interpretations of Shakespeare’s Hamlet suggest that Hamlet may have killed his father, exploring this idea through psychological analysis and the ambiguity of the ghost’s reliability. Critics argue that Hamlet’s complex feelings and his feigned madness create a narrative where guilt and uncertainty blur the lines of reality. This hypothesis, while not mainstream, offers an intriguing lens for analyzing Hamlet’s character and the play’s themes.
The script for the play is available courtesy of Yeganeh Mohammadi, Masoud Tayebi, and Mis.en.scene Academy of Performing Arts.
Video recording of the performance includes English subtitles.
