Hamlet
In summer 2008, famed Japanese director Keita Asari revived his adaptation of Hamlet and staged a new production with a Chinese cast from the Beijing People’s Art Theatre Company. The production premiered in October 2008 at the Beijing Capital Theatre. The following spring, the production was performed at the National Center for the Performing Arts March 11-18, 2009.
Chinese actor Wang Ban starred as Hamlet. See also the earlier production of Hamlet directed by Asari Keita in 1993 and performed by a Japanese cast from the Shiki Theatre Company, established by Asari in 1953.
