Dr. Aimara da Cunha Resende, President of the Centro Estudos Shakespeareanos (CESh), is on the Advisory Board of the Global Shakespeares project, with a specialty in the region of Brazil.

Dr. Resende has a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from Universidade de São Paulo. She retired as Adjunct Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the Universidade Federal and at the Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, and is currently working in the graduate program at Universidade Estadual de Minas Gerais.

Dr. Resende has worked closely with Brazilian theatre groups in stagings of Shakespearean drama, and she has published widely, in Brazil and abroad, not only in academic periodicals but also in newspapers and magazines.

Her book Foreign Accents: Brazilian Readings of Shakespeare was published by the University of Delaware Press in 2002. Foreign Accents is formed of two parts: the first offers analyses of translation, interpretations, and appropriations of plays and sonnets in different processes of transmutation. The second part comprises texts that deal with more general critical readings. Shakespeare is viewed in the light of gender studies, of postmodernism, and of comparative studies.
