Maze, Spectacle, and Music: King Lear
A creative interpretation of Shakespeare’s King Lear through percussion music, drumming, and dance. The production is also known as “Drumming with Lear.” The performance emphasized physical expressions of strong emotions. The company, OFF Performance Workshop (founded on June 9, 2000, as an experimental group of the Performance Workshop, one of Taiwan’s best troupes), staged another experimental adaptation of Lear with Buddhist themes: Lear and the 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva.
